Family Ministries at the La Sierra University Church exists in support of the church’s stated mission of “passing on the faith to the next generation.” There are four foundational dynamics to this family ministries endeavor:
A. Underscoring the necessity of parents as primary spiritual influences. We seek to understand and apply the counsel that “parents stand in the place of God to their children.” We explore the impact of the home on the development of faith and on denominational loyalty. We attempt to strengthen the significant cooperation between families, the church and the school.
B. Establishing faith development within a grace orientation. We ground all faith development endeavors upon the one sure foundation of the everlasting, enduring, unshakable grace of our Heavenly Parent.
C. Enlarging the community of families, building on the strengths of the La Sierra University Church. We intentionally utilize the wide cultural, ethnic, and age make-up of our church as a basis for all our efforts, seeking to strengthen the ties of all types of families and family elements (single parents, blended families, traditional families) to the wider church family.
D. Developing the witness of fully devoted families. We attempt to maximize the evangelistic potential of the strong family unit, developing outreach programs which put those strengths into action, seeking to build the church through the power of the family.
